MONA LISA – is a teresken (Krascheninnikovia ceratoides), growing as a semi-shrub up to 40–80 cm in height. It is characterized by linear-lanceolate, grayish leaves with star-shaped pubescence and a compact branched structure, making it ideal for creating living fences and decorative greening in dry climates.
Teresken exhibits high resistance to drought and cold. With moderate watering and good soil drainage covering, the plant consumes minimum moisture, however, good ventilation and protection from strong winds are important. Thanks to his xerophytic nature, it is perfectly suited for steppes and sandy slopes.
In garden design, teresken is used as an element of a living fence or a decorative accent thanks to white or purple flowers, which appear in July-August. The plant is not poisonous, but precautions should be observed during processing. It is resistant to diseases, however, it can be attacked by powdery mildew and aphids; regular inspection and preventive treatments help maintain the health of the plant.
