Tulip White Christmas

Operational specifics of the White Christmas variety

The White Christmas tulip belongs to the Single Early group, making it a staple for greenhouse operators and professional forcers. The variety is valued for its predictable response to temperature regimes, which is critical for planning bloom dates. Its low-growing, compact habit allows for optimized planting density in crates, significantly reducing internal logistics costs within the greenhouse.

Technical cultivation standards

To achieve maximum yield consistency, operators should focus on the following parameters:

• Temperature management: As a Single Early variety, strict adherence to cooling cycles is mandatory. Deviations during the rooting phase will directly impact the uniformity of stem height.
• Nutrition and irrigation: The low stem structure requires a balanced calcium-rich nutrient program to strengthen cellular walls, preventing lodging during post-harvest handling.
• Light exposure: The pure white petal color necessitates protection from intense direct sunlight during the budding phase to prevent greening or sunscald.

White Christmas is widely regarded as a reliable «workhorse» for commercial growers. The high level of uniformity minimizes labor time during harvest, as stems reach maturity simultaneously. While the crop does not require specialized maintenance tools, its compact growth habit requires rigorous phytosanitary monitoring to ensure sufficient airflow between the leaves of this low-stature variety.
