Tulip Primavera

Engineering specifications of the 'Primavera' cultivar

Belonging to the Triumph class, this cultivar represents hybrids where breeding has prioritized stem rigidity and bud geometry. Primavera features the signature architecture of its group: a goblet shape with tight petal closure, ensuring high resistance to deformation during transit and temperature fluctuations.

Biological potential and immune profile

The technical value of this cultivar lies in its genetic resistance to pathogens commonly affecting bulbous crops in both greenhouse and open-field conditions. Primavera breeding focuses on blocking the development of fungal diseases:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora): a dense leaf cuticle prevents the penetration of zoospores into epidermal tissues.
• Phomopsis and Phoma: resistance is achieved through an optimized vascular bundle system that prevents stem necrosis.
• Rust: genetic resistance to specific pathogen strains allows for minimized fungicide application during the vegetative stage.

Agrotechnical parameters

As a mid-season flowering hybrid, this cultivar serves as a balanced tool for commercial floriculture. Its high stem requires strict adherence to irrigation and potassium-phosphorus fertilization schedules during the budding phase to maintain turgor and the intensity of the pink pigment. The lack of propensity for premature lodging makes it an optimal choice for cut flower production.
