Tulip Opmeer

Stability and Classic Red Appeal

The Opmeer tulip belongs to the legendary Triumph class, widely considered the «gold standard» of commercial floriculture. Unlike many varieties that demand expert-level care, this tulip is forgiving of minor agronomic oversights while maintaining a top-tier aesthetic.

Why choose Opmeer?

• Comprehensive Immunity: The primary advantage of this variety is its genetic resistance to fungal diseases. Fusarium wilt, anthracnose, and powdery mildew, which often lead to crop losses, barely affect this hybrid.
• Flawless Shape: As a true Triumph class representative, Opmeer features a goblet-shaped flower that maintains its structure and does not open up excessively, even under direct sunlight.
• Strategic Timing: Its mid-season flowering period allows growers to easily integrate it into production schedules between early forcing varieties and late-blooming double tulips.

Cultivation Insights

The plant reaches a medium height, making it highly practical for packaging and transport; its sturdy stems do not bend under the weight of the bud. The deep red petals are highly resistant to color fading, a critical factor for both greenhouse production and urban landscape design.

Strengths: High marketability, excellent resistance to common pathogens, and a dense, elegant cup.
Weaknesses: To achieve maximum bud size, strict adherence to temperature control during the bud formation stage is required.

This variety is an optimal choice for commercial cut-flower farmers and landscapers looking for a reliable plant for public flowerbeds, where both visual appeal and disease resistance are paramount.
