Tulip Lima

Breeding Background and Market Positioning

The ‘Lima’ tulip is a prominent representative of the Triumph class, a group synonymous with commercial reliability and aesthetic precision. Developed to bridge the gap between early and late bloomers, this cultivar has earned its place in the market by offering a low-stature profile combined with the robust, classic goblet shape characteristic of the Triumph family. ‘Lima’ is favored for its uniformity, making it a reliable choice for professional landscaping and retail potted plant production.

Agronomic Strengths and Disease Resistance

What sets ‘Lima’ apart is its ability to thrive in challenging environments without compromising its visual appeal. It is specifically noted for its high resistance to common pathological threats:

• Anthracnose: The plant exhibits significant resistance to fungal tissue degradation, reducing the need for aggressive chemical intervention.
• Bacterial Blight: Its resilient foliage remains healthy even under humid conditions, maintaining the plant's decorative integrity throughout the flowering season.

Usage and Landscape Application

With its distinctive pink petals and compact size, ‘Lima’ is an excellent selection for the front line of garden beds, rock gardens, and patio containers. Its genetic resilience to lodging—often a problem for taller cultivars—ensures that it remains upright during spring storms. In professional horticulture, it is highly valued for its predictable blooming cycle, providing a consistent, high-quality performance that growers and designers can trust.
