Tomato Torros F1

Technical Specifications of Torros F1

This German-bred tomato hybrid by agro-Tip Handels-u. Consultingges. mbH is a high-performance solution for professional greenhouse production. Being an indeterminate type, the plant requires advanced canopy management, allowing for high yield potential in controlled environments. With a maturity period of 90–100 days, it sits firmly in the mid-early category, optimized for consistent production cycles.

Biosecurity and Genetic Resistance

The primary value proposition of Torros F1 lies in its robust genetic defense system. Developed under the oversight of originator Dale Smith, the hybrid has been engineered to withstand high-pressure pathogen environments:

• Fungal Pathogen Control: High resistance to Fusarium wilt (races 0, 1) and Verticillium wilt safeguards the vascular integrity of the plant, ensuring nutrient transport throughout the entire season.
• Viral Defense: The hybrid possesses built-in tolerance to the Tobacco Mosaic Virus (ToMV) and Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV). This reduces the dependency on chemical pest control and protects the crop against common, devastating viral outbreaks.

Fruit Morphology and Commercial Utility

Torros F1 is engineered for premium market performance. The fruits consistently exceed 200 grams, meeting the commercial standard for high-value segment tomatoes. The round shape and deep red color are characteristic traits achieved through precise selection. Technically, the fruit features a firm pericarp that ensures excellent shelf life and resistance to cracking during transportation—a critical factor for wholesale distribution. This combination of structural integrity and fruit size makes it a reliable asset for growers focusing on market-grade efficiency.
