Tomato Tomari

Tomari: Professional Cherry Tomato for High-Yield Greenhouses

In modern commercial greenhouse production, success is built on predictable performance and resilience. Tomari, a cherry tomato hybrid developed by the Dutch experts at Rijk Zwaan, offers growers a reliable solution for producing high-quality fruit under controlled environments.

Agronomic Profile and Cultivation

As an indeterminate hybrid, Tomari is designed for vertical greenhouse cultivation. With a maturity window of up to 90 days, it allows for efficient crop scheduling and rotation management. The plants require standard staking and training, which, when managed correctly, optimizes vertical space and ensures uniform fruit development. The fruit itself is a classic round cherry tomato with a vibrant red color and a weight of up to 20 grams, making it perfectly suited for standard market grading.

Disease Resistance as a Production Asset

One of the primary benefits of choosing Tomari is its robust resistance package, which significantly reduces the need for aggressive chemical intervention. In greenhouse conditions, Tomari shows strong resistance against:

• Fusarium and Verticillium wilts;
• Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) and other viral mosaics;
• Leaf mold (brown spot);
• Nematodes.

This genetic resistance helps minimize crop loss and lowers the overall cost of production, providing a more predictable financial outlook for the growing season.

Post-Harvest Advantages

The Tomari hybrid is built for the fresh market. Its firm skin prevents cracking during harvest and sorting, ensuring the produce remains in premium condition throughout the supply chain. Whether sold in bulk or packaged in convenient trays for supermarkets, Tomari maintains its visual appeal and flavor profile for an extended period. For farms targeting both wholesale markets and high-end culinary segments, Tomari offers the necessary consistency and shelf-life required for competitive operations.

By leveraging the genetics provided by Rijk Zwaan, growers gain not just seeds, but a proven technological system for achieving high-quality cherry tomato yields.
