Simon

Simon F1 tomato is an ultra-early semi-determinate hybrid developed by the Dutch breeding company Enza Zaden. It is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under protective cover, including high and low polyethylene tunnels. The plant is medium-height, compact, with short internodes, forming 3–4 clusters simultaneously, which set through 1–2 leaves and ripen evenly. After forming 4–5 clusters, the plant undergoes apical dominance, which contributes to uniform and early fruiting. The fruiting period is 55–65 days from transplanting.

The Simon tomato fruits are large, weighing 200–250 grams, with a round-oval shape and a characteristic "nose" during pollination, and a vibrant red color with a glossy sheen. The flesh is bright red, dense, with a pleasant sweet taste and mild acidity. The fruit skin is firm, ensuring good transportability and long-term storage without loss of flavor and aroma. The number of seed chambers varies from 4 to 6.

The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major tomato diseases, including mosaic virus, viral necrosis of the apex, fusarium wilt, and verticillium wilt. Additionally, it has moderate resistance to bronze virus, true powdery mildew, and certain species of gall nematodes. Simon F1 is light-loving, stress-tolerant, and responds well to intensive agronomic practices, making it a versatile choice for various regions and growing conditions. It is ideal for both fresh consumption and processing into juice.
