Tomato Rhodium

Market Potential and Quality

The «Rodium» F1 tomato from Enza Zaden is a professional-grade hybrid designed for growers who prioritize impeccable marketability in the early-season segment. Thanks to its genetics, the fruits possess an ideal round shape and a deep red color that remains vibrant even after long-distance transport. The absence of green shoulders and a minimal stem scar make Rodium an ideal candidate for retail chains, where the visual perfection of the produce is a key factor for consumer choice.

Usage and Logistics

This hybrid is primarily specialized for the fresh market. The dense pericarp structure and medium wall thickness allow the fruits to withstand mechanical stress during packaging and shipping without compromising quality. The internal structure, featuring three to four locules, ensures optimal firmness, making the tomato highly resistant to cracking. This allows farmers to plan deliveries to supermarkets with confidence that the product will maintain its shelf appeal for several days.

Technological Advantages

The indeterminate growth habit and high adaptability to greenhouse conditions make Rodium an efficient choice for both the first and second crop cycles in plastic greenhouses. A high level of resistance to a complex of diseases (including Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus - TYLCV and Fusarium wilt) minimizes the need for aggressive chemical treatments. This not only reduces production costs but also enhances the environmental appeal of the product for end consumers who demand high-quality, safe vegetables.
