Tomato RED CANDLES

Elegant Classics for Greenhouses and Open Fields

The tomato "Alye Svechi" (Scarlet Candles), bred by Vladimir Nikolaevich Dederko and Olga Valentinovna Postnikova, is a benchmark example of an indeterminate variety focused on those who appreciate a dense, meaty consistency. With a plant height that requires mandatory staking, the variety demonstrates impressive productivity, forming trusses with uniform cylindrical fruits.

Key Advantages

• Shape and Structure: The fruits have a perfect elongated-cylindrical shape with a small 'nose'. This geometry makes them ideal for whole-fruit canning — they fit snugly into jars and do not crack during heat treatment.
• Maturation Period: Early ripening (90-100 days) allows for an early harvest, which is critical for regions with a temperate climate.
• Flavor Profile: Unlike many industrial hybrids, "Alye Svechi" possesses a distinct tomato flavor with an optimal balance of sugars and acids.

Agrotechnical Features

Since the plant is indeterminate, the main yield potential is unlocked when trained to 1-2 stems. The variety responds excellently to regular potash and phosphate fertilization. The variety has few weaknesses: due to high yields, trusses must be staked in a timely manner; otherwise, they may break under the weight of the fruit. In open ground, the variety requires protection against late blight, while in greenhouses, it consistently shows high results without significant complaints.

This variety is an optimal choice for gardeners and small-scale farmers looking for a balance between processing convenience and the aesthetic appeal of the produce.
