Tomato PORTENTO

Reliable production of large-fruited tomatoes

The «Portento» hybrid by Monsanto is designed for producers who prioritize high-quality marketable produce with minimal post-harvest losses. This tomato excels in greenhouse environments, allowing growers to meet market demand for large-sized vegetables with a unique appearance.

Cultivation scenarios and logistics

With a ripening period of up to 90 days, the hybrid fits perfectly into efficient production cycles. Key advantages for agricultural operations include:

• Market appeal: The unique creamy-orange color of the fruits, weighing over 200 grams, ensures your product stands out in retail environments, attracting customers looking for variety.
• Logistical resilience: The dense, round-shaped fruits are highly suitable for long-distance transport, ensuring your harvest reaches the shelves in excellent condition.
• Extended shelf life: The ability to store the fruit for 10-20 days provides growers with the flexibility to manage sales more effectively, avoiding panic selling at harvest time.

As a product of Monsanto Holland B.V., these seeds offer excellent germination vigor, minimizing seeding costs and ensuring uniform plant development. The hybrid’s robust root system is capable of efficiently absorbing nutrients, which is vital for developing large, high-quality fruits even under demanding growth conditions.
