PORTENTO

Portento is a medium-early watermelon hybrid of the Sharan-type, characterized by high productivity and outstanding taste qualities. The ripening period ranges from 65 to 80 days depending on growing conditions. The plant is vigorous, with a well-developed root system and abundant foliage, ensuring resistance to stress factors such as sudden temperature fluctuations and wind load. The hybrid is well-suited for cultivation both in open ground and under plastic coverings or in greenhouses. Portento fruits are round with a ribbed surface, decorated with fine netting and longitudinal stripes. In maturity, the rind changes color from gray-green to creamy, while the flesh develops a rich, bright orange hue. Average fruit weight ranges from 1 to 1.6 kg, making them convenient for fresh consumption. The flesh is firm, juicy, with a small seed cavity, exhibiting a pronounced sweet taste and aroma. Sugar content (Brix) reaches 7–13%, making the watermelon especially nutritious and flavorful.
