Tomato "Novogodniy": Strategy for Long-Term Storage

For agribusinesses focused on extending the fresh produce sales season, the "Novogodniy" variety from the Gavrish seed company is a vital tool for inventory management. Its biological characteristics allow producers to meet the demand for domestic tomatoes during the winter months when the market supply is typically constrained.

Agrotechnical Potential

As a late-maturing variety with a growing cycle exceeding 150 days, "Novogodniy" requires careful production planning. The key value of this variety lies in its post-harvest shelf life: under controlled conditions, the fruit maintains its commercial appeal and quality for over 30 days. This trait is essential for minimizing losses in the supply chain.

• Fruit Metrics: These small-fruited tomatoes (up to 20 grams) are perfectly suited for consumer-ready packaging. The rounded shape and creamy color provide a unique visual appeal that stands out from standard red varieties.
• Market Strategy: Due to the firm skin and texture, this variety is highly resistant to transportation damage, making it a reliable choice for wholesale retail suppliers.

Practical Application

In practice, "Novogodniy" is often selected for the cherry or dessert tomato segment. Its distinctive creamy color makes it a popular choice for vegetable mixes and niche HoReCa supplies where aesthetic presentation is paramount. Agronomists recommend scheduling the harvest toward the end of the season to maximize its storage potential, ensuring high-quality fresh produce is available specifically during the year-end holidays, as the variety name suggests.
