Tomato Fiona

Cultivation and Operational Performance

The Fiona tomato variety, developed by Vasily Blokin-Mechtalin, is a reliable asset for growers focusing on efficient labor management. Its determinate growth habit eliminates the need for intensive staking and side-shoot removal, significantly reducing maintenance time. The plants maintain a compact form, making the patch easy to navigate during monitoring and harvesting.

Yield and Fruit Specifications

With a maturation period of 100–120 days, Fiona is a mid-season variety that provides consistent supply. The fruits weigh between 100 and 150 grams and exhibit a unique shape that blends plum-like and heart-like features. A key operational advantage is the fruit density; the skins are resilient, preventing cracking and ensuring excellent transportability. This makes it a prime choice for commercial operations where the product must reach the consumer in perfect condition. The appealing pink hue of the pulp adds extra value for retail markets, where pink tomatoes are often preferred for their balanced, sweet flavor profile.

Operational Advantages:

• Low-maintenance plant structure reduces recurring operational costs.
• High transportability: fruits endure long transit distances without damage.
• Versatile application: perfect for both fresh market sales and preservation.
• Predictable performance rooted in robust Russian breeding standards.
