Table Beet MODANA

Technical profile of Modana table beet

The Modana variety by Semko-Junior is a classic example of a breeding solution tailored for high-tech industrial production. This hybrid is built on a genetic balance between rapid vegetation speed and the physical/chemical integrity of the root crop. With a maturation period of 60-70 days, it sits firmly in the mid-early segment, allowing agrobusinesses to optimize continuous supply chains for processing facilities.

Morphology and Yield Stability

• Shape and Structure: The rounded shape is the industry standard for automated, mechanized harvesting. A consistent geometry minimizes physical damage as roots pass through harvester cleaning systems.
• Pigmentation: The intense dark-red color is driven by high betalain concentration, which is critical for producers of juices, purees, and canned vegetable mixes. The absence of light radial rings on the cross-section ensures high uniformity of the product mass.

Practical Application for Agribusiness

The design philosophy of the originators (Semko-Junior in collaboration with international breeding centers) focuses on two primary vectors: long-term storage and industrial processing. The dense skin and specific anatomical structure of the root tissues contribute to a lower shrinkage rate during storage. In industrial processing, the variety demonstrates a minimal waste coefficient; the small crown reduces prep time during raw material processing.
