Sweetstar F1 sugar corn is an early-maturing SH2 (supersweet) hybrid developed by Dutch breeders of Syngenta Seeds. The vegetative period is approximately 70-73 days, allowing this variety to be planted early even in unwarmed soil. The seeds have high germination, and seedlings are resistant to cold and other adverse conditions, ensuring stable plant development. The corn plants reach approximately 210 cm in height, promoting good ear formation and yield.
The ears of Sweetstar F1 corn have a cylindrical shape with blunt tips, length ranging from 21 to 24 cm, diameter approximately 5-5.5 cm. The kernels are large, bright yellow, arranged in 14-18 rows, and kernel depth reaches 12-13 mm. Due to their large, juicy kernels, this hybrid has excellent taste and high sweetness. The high kernel yield per ear makes Sweetstar F1 especially attractive for both fresh consumption and processing.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to a range of diseases, including mosaic virus, dwarfism, corn rust, and spot diseases, as well as stability against diseases marked as HR: Bm, Ps (rp1-d, rp1-g) and IK: Pst, Et, MDMV. Yield reaches 15-22 tons per hectare, equivalent to 2 ears per plant. Due to its market appeal, transportability, and storability, Sweetstar F1 is ideal for early marketing, home cooking, canning, and freezing.
