Stanichnik sweet corn is a medium-maturing, high-yielding variety of Altai and Siberian selection, characterized by high productivity and excellent taste. The vegetative period from germination to the first harvest ranges from 93 to 114 days. The plant is tall, reaching heights of 180-220 cm, with large cobs weighing up to 300 grams and measuring approximately 14.3 x 4.8 cm. The grains are elongated, medium-sized, with a delicate skin and yellow-orange coloration, containing high levels of sugars – up to 3%, as well as Vitamin C at 6.3-8.4 mg%. Due to its taste qualities and nutritional value, the grains are widely consumed at the milk stage of maturity in boiled, canned, frozen, and dried forms. The Stanichnik variety is known for its hardiness but is also a heat-loving plant requiring good lighting and not tolerating shading. The optimal temperature for growth and development is 20-30°C. Corn grows well on light, fertile, and well-warmed soils. For sowing, it is recommended to use seeds soaked in water for a day, planting them in the ground when the soil temperature reaches 10-12°C at a depth of 4-5 cm with row spacing of 60 cm. Thinning of seedlings in the 3-4 leaf stage is recommended, leaving two plants per clump at a distance of 40 cm. The best predecessors for this variety are melon crops, tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes. Plant care includes loosening the soil, watering, and hilling before tassel formation. Throughout the vegetative period, it is recommended to remove suckers forming at the lower leaves, as well as to carry out top dressing with mineral fertilizers, including pre-sowing application of superphosphate and 1-2 top dressings during the season. Stanichnik sweet corn grains are a valuable dietary product, rich in B vitamins, Vitamin E, provitamin A, carbohydrates, proteins, and essential amino acids, making this variety especially beneficial for varied and healthy nutrition.
