Sunflower Zustrič (Meeting)

Reliable Ukrainian Breeding

The «Zustrich» sunflower hybrid, developed by the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS, is a classic example of adaptive breeding designed specifically for Ukrainian agro-climatic conditions. As a simple hybrid, it has secured a strong position in the oilseed market due to its yield predictability and high tolerance to critical pathogens.

Biological Defense System

The developers focused heavily on a robust defense profile. In modern field conditions, this hybrid demonstrates significant resistance to:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora);
• Phomopsis;
• Phoma;
• Stem rot.

This resistance profile allows farmers to reduce fungicide applications significantly, which is crucial for production profitability in regions with moderate and sufficient moisture. The reduced need for chemical intervention makes «Zustrich» an efficient tool for cost optimization.

Market Positioning

In the Ukrainian market, this hybrid is preferred by agricultural enterprises that prioritize reliability and proven cultivation technologies. As a simple hybrid, it ensures uniformity in the fields, simplifying mechanized harvesting. High early-stage growth energy allows «Zustrich» to compete effectively with weeds, serving as a distinct advantage for farms practicing intensive crop rotation.
