Sunflower PGR 509

Yield stability under stress: the Lidea advantage

French breeding by Lidea is synonymous with technical precision, and PGR 509 is a perfect example of how a simple sunflower hybrid can act as a risk-mitigation tool for the agronomist. Unlike complex multi-line hybrids that demand near-perfect growing conditions, this variety provides exceptional predictability in highly variable environments.

Defense against major pathogens

The primary challenge for any sunflower producer is fungal disease pressure. PGR 509, developed by the originator "Rustica Semena", features robust resistance to key threats:

• Downy mildew (Peronospora): a strong barrier against systemic root and leaf infection.
• Phomopsis and Phoma: the hybrid effectively resists necrotic stem lesions, which is critical in regions with high humidity or unpredictable rainfall.

Who is this hybrid for?

PGR 509 is optimized for farms practicing intensive agriculture that aim to reduce dependency on fungicide applications. Its simple genetic structure allows the plant to channel energy directly into head development and yield formation rather than constant immune response.

Strengths: high adaptability to various soil and climate types, backed by French breeding standards, and consistent harvest outcomes. Considerations: like any classic simple hybrid, it requires adherence to proper crop rotation and planting densities tailored to the specific zone to unlock its full yield potential. This is a reliable, high-performance workhorse that delivers results even when temperamental hybrids falter due to weather volatility.
