Sunflower X 720 V

Technical Profile of the X 720 V Hybrid

Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of the NAAS, this hybrid is a specialized tool for farmers focused on early maturation while maintaining high oil content. The genetic architecture of 'X 720 V' is engineered to ensure stable productivity within a tight 90-100 day vegetation window.

Biological Protection and Adaptability

The primary engineering challenge solved by breeders under the direction of A. I. Ignatenko and V. V. Kirichenko is comprehensive field resistance. The hybrid demonstrates a high threshold of immunity to key sunflower pathogens:

• White and gray rot — risks of head rot during high humidity are minimized.
• Downy mildew (peronosporosis) — genetic blocking of pathogen development at early growth stages.
• Phomopsis and Phoma — dense stem structure and active immunity allow the plant to effectively withstand these diseases under intensive farming conditions.

Production Parameters

This is a simple hybrid, which ensures high crop uniformity and predictability of development for every plant. The plant height ranges from 170 to 190 cm, an optimal parameter for standard combine harvesting without excessive losses. The medium-sized head, combined with large seeds, ensures uniform ripening, which is critical during short growing seasons. An oil content of 50-55% makes the 'X 720 V' an economically attractive solution for crushing plants demanding high-quality raw materials with high extraction yields.
