WEIDELJEVSKY 2001 is a mid-early sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) variety characterized by large fruit size and high plant growth. The plant differs in the absence of branching and medium hairiness of the upper stem part. Leaves are of medium size, heart-shaped, green without anthocyanin coloring, with irregularly serrated edges and lateral wing-like segments. Flowers are ligulate yellow and oval, tubular flowers are also yellow without or with weak anthocyanin coloring of the style. The head is of medium size, turned downwards, with a flat seed side. Achenes are oval-elongated, of medium size, with black main color and gray marginal stripes. The variety is included in the State Register for the Lower Volga and Ural regions, which confirms its adaptation to various climatic conditions. The vegetation period is about 118 days. Plant height is high, which promotes good development and crop formation. Average yield in the Lower Volga region reaches 20.0 ц/ga, and in the Ural region — about 13.1 ц/ga, with maximum indicators up to 16.5 ц/ga. The mass of 1000 seeds is 30.7 grams, which indicates the large fruit size of the variety. WEIDELJEVSKY 2001 is resistant to such diseases as phoma and downy mildew, however it is susceptible to dodder and white rot. Fat content in seeds reaches 55.7%, which makes this variety in demand for the production of oil products. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance to a number of diseases, this sunflower is a reliable choice for agricultural production in the specified regions.
