Sunflower L 8 is an early, high-yielding hybrid developed by the French company Limagrain. This low-growing hybrid is characterized by its high oil content, reaching up to 50%, and a high oil yield, making it attractive for cultivation in agricultural regions with various climate conditions. Plant height is approximately 140 cm, and the average head diameter reaches 17 cm, which contributes to efficient harvest collection. The mass of 1000 seeds is 67 grams, and the energy of initial growth and cold resistance are at a high level, ensuring good germination and plant development under various conditions. Hybrid L 8 features high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including foamy mold, root and head white rot, black rot, and Phoma, with stability ratings on a 10-point scale ranging from 7 to 9 points. Additionally, it is drought and lodging resistant, allowing cultivation in areas with insufficient moisture. Special attention is given to resistance to race A-G of sunflower stem rust and new races of downy mildew, which significantly reduces the risk of crop losses. The recommended planting density varies depending on the moisture zone: up to 55,000 plants per hectare in sufficiently moist zones and 45,000–50,000 in insufficiently moist zones. Seed origin is certified by original quality certificates, and seed treatment is performed using the Cruiser (Thiamethoxam 350 g/l) product, ensuring protection against pests at early growth stages. Hybrid L 8 is recommended for cultivation in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, where it demonstrates stable yield potential of up to 3.1 tonnes per hectare. Limagrain, with over a decade of experience in the Ukrainian market, offers this hybrid as part of its wide portfolio of sunflower seeds adapted to various cultivation technologies.
