Sunflower Volces

Field Performance and Practical Application

The «Voless» sunflower variety, developed by the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute (Ukraine), is designed for agricultural enterprises aiming to maximize harvesting efficiency. Unlike typical intensive hybrids, this variety is characterized by a unique morphology that favors mechanized operations.

The primary advantage of «Voless» is its short stature, with plants reaching only 50–70 cm in height. This specific trait provides several practical operational benefits:

• Reduced Harvesting Losses: The low plant height allows combine harvesters to operate with minimal biomass intake, which significantly reduces the load on the threshing mechanism and lowers fuel consumption.
• Improved Field Accessibility: Maintenance operations can be performed at later growth stages with minimal risk of mechanical damage to the crop.
• Superior Lodging Resistance: The sturdy, short stems make the variety exceptionally resistant to wind damage, a critical factor for regions prone to stormy weather during the maturation phase.

Crop Development and Strategy

Despite its compact size, the «Voless» variety is bred to produce a large head, ensuring high yield potential. This balance is unusual for short-stature varieties, making it an excellent choice for farmers who utilize precision farming techniques and require a predictable crop that performs well in dense planting patterns. The variety is particularly valued by producers looking to reduce costs associated with chemical desiccation, as it features uniform maturation, allowing for timely and efficient harvesting once seed moisture levels are optimal.

In summary, «Voless» is a specialized tool for those looking to streamline field logistics and reduce the total cost of production through a robust, manageable, and highly efficient crop variety.
