Sunflower Voronoy

Practical Insights: Managing the "Voronoy" Sunflower Hybrid

When selecting hybrids for commercial farming, consistency is the ultimate metric. The "Voronoy" hybrid by PrAT "Ekoprod" has earned its reputation in the field by being a highly predictable performer. For an agronomist, this means less time troubleshooting and more time focusing on maximizing the yield potential of the crop, even under challenging conditions.

Field Performance and Protection

This allows for a clean field, effectively managing weeds and broomrape in a single pass, which is a major logistical advantage. In terms of pathology, "Voronoy" shows robust natural resistance to common threats like Sclerotinia, Phomopsis, rust, and powdery mildew.

• Growth Cycle: 90-100 days. This duration is ideal for efficient rotation planning and timely harvesting.
• Oil Content: Stable performance between 45-50%, consistently meeting quality requirements for off-take markets.
• Structural Integrity: The 150-160 cm height and medium-sized, flattened head structure provide excellent lodging resistance and uniform drying.

Resistance to white and gray rot is a critical asset, especially in regions with fluctuating rainfall. The balanced plant structure minimizes the risk of infection by ensuring proper aeration within the canopy.

Operational Handling

From an operator's perspective, this hybrid is user-friendly. The plants exhibit uniform height and maturity, which simplifies combine settings during harvest and minimizes grain loss. Furthermore, the crop demonstrates high recovery vigor after herbicide application, suffering minimal physiological stress. "Voronoy" is a solid choice for farms seeking a resilient, mid-season hybrid that balances defensive traits with reliable harvest outcomes.
