Gallaxy SU is a mid-early hybrid sunflower of linoleic type, developed by French breeders of the company Euralis. It belongs to the moderately intensive type with a vegetation period of 107 to 114 days, ensuring optimal maturation timing and allowing cultivation in all climatic zones. Plant height varies from 160 to 185 cm, and the flower head size is 22–24 cm with a semi-transparent inclination, promoting effective yield formation. The 1000-seed mass is 57–60 g, and oil content in seeds reaches 47–51%, making the hybrid attractive for oil production.
The Gallaxy SU hybrid is characterized by high resistance to major sunflower diseases, including phomopsis, false powdery mildew, sclerotinia, gray mold, rust, and verticillium. Special attention is given to resistance to downy mildew — the hybrid successfully resists seven main parasite races (A–G) and new forms, significantly reducing the risk of yield losses. Additionally, the plant exhibits very high resistance to heat, drought, lodging, and stem breakage, ensuring stability and reliability when grown under challenging climatic conditions.
Gallaxy SU is intended for cultivation using modern technologies, including herbicide treatments based on tribenuron-methyl (SU), to which it shows resistance. The hybrid is characterized by enhanced early development energy and a robust root system, promoting rapid rooting and efficient utilization of soil resources. Yield potential ranges from 4.8 to 5.3 t/ha, confirmed by results from various farms where yields reached over 50 c/ha. Thanks to its characteristics, Gallaxy SU is a reliable choice for producers oriented toward high-quality oil production.
