Sunflower Polit 2

Stable Yields in High Infection Pressure Areas

Polit 2 is a selection achievement from the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS, designed for farmers who prioritize efficiency and sustainable crop protection. In intensive farming systems where sunflowers dominate the crop rotation, this hybrid shows remarkable resistance to key pathogens that threaten commercial yields.

Practical Field Strategy

The core value of Polit 2 lies in its genetic tolerance to a complex of rots. Choosing this hybrid is a strategic move for fields with a history of white rot, grey rot, or downy mildew. By utilizing this genetic resistance, farmers can significantly reduce fungicide costs, avoiding unnecessary treatments against phomopsis and powdery mildew that often erode profit margins in less resilient varieties.

• Plant Morphology: Reaching a height of 150–160 cm, the plants are perfectly suited for standard harvesting headers, ensuring minimal header loss.
• Oil Content: A high oil content of 50–55% makes the crop highly attractive to oil extraction plants, ensuring premium pricing at the elevator.
• Phytosanitary Shield: Resistance to rust keeps the canopy green and active for longer, maximizing nutrient translocation into the seeds during the grain-filling stage.

We recommend Polit 2 for operations utilizing moderately intensive management practices. It does not require excessive chemical inputs, instead focusing on efficiently converting soil resources into yield. This hybrid is the ideal choice for producers who need a reliable, oil-rich crop that maintains its integrity under challenging pathological conditions.
