Sunflower P64LE230

Technological potential of the P64LE230 hybrid

The breeding strategy of Corteva for the P64LE230 hybrid focuses on stability within intensive farming systems. The primary technical advantage of this sunflower is its genetic tolerance to the Clearfield production system (Euro-Lightning), enabling growers to effectively manage a wide spectrum of weeds without suppressing crop development.

Biological parameters and adaptability

The vegetation period ranges from 100 to 120 days. Such flexibility allows for the optimization of planting and harvesting schedules, mitigating risks associated with weather variability. The head shape is slightly convex on the seed side, a structural feature that promotes uniform seed maturation and minimizes losses during mechanized harvesting.

Phytosanitary protection

The agronomic reliability of P64LE230 is supported by a comprehensive immune response to key pathogens:

• High resistance to Sclerotinia: a critical factor for regions with high moisture levels.
• Tolerance to Peronospora (downy mildew): protecting crops during early growth stages.
• Resistance to Phomopsis and Phoma: these diseases can significantly impact yield potential, yet Corteva's breeding minimizes the risk of biomass loss.

With an oil content reaching 45–50%, this hybrid demonstrates high potential as a profitable commodity crop. It is designed for producers who prioritize predictable results and field cleanliness in high-weed pressure environments.
