Common sunflower Opera PR

Reliable Yields in Challenging Pathogen Environments

When planning a sowing campaign in regions prone to high pathogen pressure, farmers look for hybrids with comprehensive genetic protection. "Opera PR" by Syngenta is designed for those who refuse to risk profitability due to fungal infections. This simple sunflower hybrid performs exceptionally well in fields where crop rotation history makes it difficult to avoid soil-borne spore accumulation.

Disease Defense as a Core Technology

The main value of this hybrid lies in its resilience. Growers choose "Opera PR" to tackle the most common yield-robbers:

• White Mold (Root and Head Rot) — a critical advantage that minimizes losses during rainy seasons.
• Phomopsis and Gray Mold — the hybrid’s high immunity reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications.
• Broomrape — robust genetic resistance keeps crops clean, even in fields with high parasite pressure.

Vegetation and Harvesting Dynamics

With a vegetation period of 110–120 days, the hybrid is classified as mid-season, allowing for flexible planting and harvesting schedules. A plant height of 160–170 cm is optimal for combine harvester operation, and the medium-sized, flattened head ensures uniform seed maturity. The large seeds, characterized by a high oil content of 50–55%, guarantee not only yield volume but also excellent quality parameters, which is vital for processing facilities.

Practical field experience demonstrates that "Opera PR" excels when standard agronomic practices are followed. Thanks to its stable performance profile, this hybrid remains predictable across various climatic zones, making it a reliable workhorse for operations focused on consistent results without overspending on stress management.
