Sunflower OPERA PR is a mid-season linoleic hybrid developed by the Swiss company Syngenta. This hybrid belongs to the extensive type and is characterized by high plasticity to sowing dates, allowing successful cultivation on various soil types, including low-fertility areas. The vegetation period lasts from 116 to 130 days, and plant height reaches 160-170 centimeters. OPERA PR is resistant to lodging, which facilitates harvest and improves seed quality.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to various diseases, including rust (up to 5 races), white and gray mold, Phomopsis and Phomosis, and demonstrates high tolerance to drought and heat. Early spring plants are not afraid of sudden frosts, making this sunflower a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions. Heads have medium size with a diameter of 20-23 centimeters and flat seed side, which promotes effective maturation and seed collection.
OPERA PR seeds are characterized by high oil content, reaching 48-52%, and belong to the linoleic type. At a planting density of up to 60,000 plants per hectare and adequate moisture and nutrient levels, the hybrid forms large seeds with oil content up to 55.1%. The recommended planting density varies depending on soil conditions: at low moisture and nutrient-poor soils, 50-55,000 seeds per hectare are optimal. Due to its characteristics and resistance, sunflower OPERA PR is a profitable and convenient choice for farmers in all sunflower-growing regions, unaffected by new rust races.
