MS SIRENA is a mid-early sunflower hybrid developed by MAY Seed (Turkey), with a vegetation period of 110–112 days and flowering occurring after 60–64 days. Plants reach a height of 160–170 cm, have a convex head with a noticeable downward tilt, and uniform seedlings. The hybrid is characterized by high germination and a lack of tendency for seed shattering, which facilitates harvest.
This hybrid is distinguished by high stress tolerance and is adapted to extreme conditions, including hot and dry climates, allowing for successful cultivation in the steppes and forest-steppe regions of Ukraine. MS SIRENA shows resistance to five races of *Plasmodiophora brassicae* (A–E), as well as major sunflower diseases such as downy mildew, Phoma stem rot, downy mildew, and rust. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to lodging and pests, contributing to a stable and high yield.
The hybrid's potential yield is 40–50 c/ha, and oil content in seeds reaches 48–52%, making it attractive for oilseed production. The recommended sowing density varies by region: 50–55 thousand plants per hectare for steppe zones, and 60–62 thousand plants per hectare for forest-steppe zones. MS SIRENA is not fussy about soil type and adapts well to various weather conditions, ensuring stability and high productivity in various agro-climatic zones.
