Sunflower LS GIBSUN

French Breeding for Intensive Farming

The «LS Gibsan» sunflower hybrid from Laboulet Semences is the result of French breeding expertise led by Guillaume Bellier, focusing on stability in unpredictable weather patterns. As climate variability increases, farmers are prioritizing short-cycle hybrids, and this simple hybrid has carved out a place as a high-performance, early-maturing solution.

Biological Potential and Resilience

The hallmark of «LS Gibsan» is its balance: with a growing cycle of 90 to 110 days, it accumulates high oil content (50-55%), making it a premium choice for the processing industry. The plant height of 160-170 cm is ideal for mechanized harvesting, ensuring robust leaf coverage and optimal photosynthetic efficiency.

Its phytosanitary profile is equally impressive. The hybrid possesses strong natural resistance to major sunflower pathogens prevalent in temperate climates. Specifically, its genetic defense against phomopsis, phoma, and various rot types significantly reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications, thereby lowering production costs per ton.

Field Technology

«LS Gibsan» is engineered for the Clearfield production system, demonstrating high tolerance to imidazolinone herbicides, specifically the «Euro-Lightning» system. This capability allows growers to effectively manage weed populations and aggressive broomrape races during the crop's early development. Choosing this hybrid means opting for predictable yields and cleaner fields, even under heavy weed pressure.
