Sunflower Grandis is a high-oil hybrid with a very early maturity period, allowing for harvest in a short time. The plants have medium height, with a strong stem and a large head that is half-downturned and protected from sunburn, reducing the risk of rot development. Leaves are medium-sized, green with a bubbly surface, and the pubescence on the upper part of the stem is strongly expressed. Seeds are narrow-oval in shape, predominantly black with weakly pronounced gray stripes, and are characterized by high oil content — over 52%.
The hybrid is distinguished by high resistance to various diseases, including foamy mildew, white and gray rot, and also possesses tolerance to races of sunflower cyst nematode from A to E. Thanks to a strong stem and good resistance to seed shattering, Grandis ensures crop preservation even in unfavorable conditions. Plants demonstrate a quick start and early development in the initial stages of organogenesis, which promotes successful growth and crop formation.
Grandis is adapted to various soil and climatic conditions, including the Central Black Earth and Middle Volga regions, as well as the Forest-Steppe and Steppe of Ukraine. The hybrid shows high drought resistance and heat tolerance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in conditions of limited moisture. Average yield in regions reaches 28.8–20.1 c/ha, with maximum figures up to 45.1 c/ha, which confirms its high productivity and economic efficiency.
