Sunflower ES Isabella is an early-maturing hybrid from the French breeding company Lidea, characterized by high yield and resistance to adverse growing conditions. The hybrid’s vegetation period is 104 days, allowing its planting in early seasons, even at the end of May — beginning of June, ensuring timely flowering and the possibility of preparing the field for winter crops. Plants reach a height of 150-160 cm, have a strong stem, preventing lodging, and the flower head diameter is 20-24 cm.
The ES Isabella hybrid exhibits high resistance to ragweed, including the 7 most common strains, making it an optimal choice for regions with harsh weather conditions and infested fields. Due to its genetic resistance to ragweed, farmers can forego herbicide treatments such as Evolightning, expanding crop rotation possibilities and reducing costs for plant protection. Additionally, the hybrid demonstrates high tolerance to major sunflower diseases such as phomopsis, verticillium wilt, and sclerotinia, reducing the number of fungicide applications.
ES Isabella is distinguished by high oil content in seeds (around 51%) and stable yields up to 4.5 tons per hectare even under drought and adverse weather conditions. The hybrid is well-adapted to various soil types and climatic zones in Ukraine, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia. Its adaptability and reliability have been confirmed by farmers not only in Ukraine but also in the Black Sea region, where over 15 ragweed species are prevalent.
