Sunflower Azart

Stability in weed-heavy fields: The Azart sunflower hybrid

The «Azart» sunflower, developed by the V.Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, is a strategic choice for farmers utilizing the Clearfield production system. In the competitive landscape of Ukrainian sunflower varieties, this hybrid stands out for its reliability in fields where persistent weeds and broomrape would otherwise decimate yield potential.

Key Specifications and Agronomics

• Vegetation period: 110–120 days. This duration provides a balance between early maturity and the accumulation of sufficient biomass for a high-quality harvest.
• Herbicide tolerance: Built-in resistance to imidazolinone-based herbicides (Euro-Lightning). This allows for post-emergence weed control without damaging the crop.
• Local adaptation: Unlike many high-maintenance Western hybrids that struggle without perfect conditions, the Yuriev Institute's genetics are specifically tuned to the variability of Ukrainian soils.

Who should choose Azart?

Azart is the optimal tool for producers managing fields with heavy weed pressure. It eliminates the need for mechanical inter-row cultivation, saving time and fuel. While the hybrid requires careful planning of the crop rotation due to herbicide residual effects, its ability to thrive where others might fail makes it a highly efficient solution. It represents a pragmatic approach to farming: consistent performance, verified genetics, and simplified management in one package.
