Sunflower Agent

Practical insights on growing the Agent sunflower hybrid

When planning a sunflower planting season, the priority is not just yield potential, but how the crop performs under real field conditions. The 'Agent' hybrid from the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS is a reliable choice for farmers who need consistency and weed control.

Handling the 'Euro-Lightning' system

The core advantage of this hybrid is its tolerance to imidazolinone herbicides. For an operator, this simplifies the protection protocol: you can apply the herbicide post-emergence to manage broomrape and a wide range of weeds in a single pass. If the application guidelines are followed, the crop maintains its momentum without signs of chemical stress, which is essential for uniform maturity.

Harvesting and post-harvest performance

At harvest time, 'Agent' proves to be straightforward to process. The medium-sized, dense head threshes efficiently, and the seed fills well. The plants are not prone to excessive shattering, providing a buffer if harvest is delayed by weather conditions.

Why this is a solid choice

• Reliable performance: Developed by Ukrainian selectors to suit local climatic zones.
• Resource efficiency: Reduced need for mechanical cultivation due to herbicide tolerance.
• Market quality: Excellent oil content meets the standards of oil extraction plants.
