Soybean Melody

Stable Yields and High Disease Resistance

Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, the Melody soybean variety is designed for growers who prioritize predictability and resilience over chasing speculative yields. In the varied climate of Ukraine, this variety proves itself through its strong genetic defense against common fungal pressures.

Key Performance Metrics

• Grain Quality: With a protein content of 40–42% and an oil content of 20–22%, Melody is well-suited for processing facilities seeking consistent chemical composition.
• Harvesting Efficiency: The lower pod height of 12–15 cm allows for low-cut harvesting, significantly reducing combine losses in typical field conditions.
• Growth Cycle: As a mid-maturing variety (115–120 days), it fits perfectly into standard crop rotation schedules, providing enough time for field preparation and timely harvesting.

Strengths and Management Notes

The standout feature of Melody is its inherent resistance to Peronospora, Fusarium, and Ascochyta blight. This biological trait allows agronomists to reduce the fungicide spray program compared to more sensitive varieties. Standing at 90–105 cm tall, the plant is robust, but it requires careful population management. The variety is sensitive to overcrowding, so adherence to recommended seeding rates is essential to maximize branching and pod development.

Melody is an optimal choice for producers who need a reliable, cost-effective solution that resists disease pressure without the constant need for expensive chemical interventions. It is a workhorse variety that excels in farms looking for stable, high-quality output.
