New Selection 2025: «Glorius» Soybean

The 2025 State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine features a new complex soybean hybrid — «Glorius». Developed by the Institute of Fodder and Agriculture of Podillia (NAAS of Ukraine), this variety is the result of targeted breeding efforts aimed at improving yield stability in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia regions. As a product of domestic selection, «Glorius» is specifically adapted to local soil and climatic conditions, offering farmers a reliable option for grain production.

Morphological Characteristics

The plant exhibits a semi-determinate growth type and reaches a medium to tall height. In the field, «Glorius» is characterized by an upright to semi-upright habit with moderately crinkled, broad-ovate leaves. Light brown pubescence on the main stem and purple flowers serve as distinct visual markers. The timing of flowering and maturity is classified as medium, ensuring predictable development cycles for efficient harvest management.

Seed Quality and Specifications

The seeds of «Glorius» are medium-sized with an elongated-flattened shape. Both the seed coat and the hilum are yellow, which is a key quality parameter for the processing industry. The absence or weak glossiness of the seed coat, combined with moderately brown pods, highlights the balanced morphotype achieved by the researchers at the Institute of Podillia. This hybrid is an excellent choice for agricultural producers prioritizing certified, locally adapted seed material that meets modern agronomic standards.
