BELGORODSKAYA 48

Soybean variety Belgorodskaya 48 is a mid-early northern ecotype with a vegetative period from 95 to 112 days. Plants reach a height of 56 to 90 cm, with the attachment height of lower pods ranging from 10-23 cm. Seeds are yellow in color and oval or round-flattened in shape; the mass of 1000 seeds varies from 126 to 180 g. Flowers are predominantly white, and pods are light brown. The growth type is semi-determinate with white pubescence. The variety is characterized by a strong stem, resistant to lodging, which ensures crop preservation and facilitates mechanized harvesting. Protein content in the grain ranges from 31.6% to 43.2%, and fat content from 18.1% to 23.8%, making this variety valuable for producing protein and oilseed products. Yield in various regions averages 1.6-3.2 t/ha, with maximum figures reaching up to 4.2 t/ha. Soybean Belgorodskaya 48 is drought-resistant, resistant to lodging, shattering, and pod splitting, enhancing yield stability under adverse conditions. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central and Central Black Earth regions of Russia. For sowing, a rate of 80-110 kg of conditioned seeds per hectare is recommended at a sowing depth of 2-4 cm and soil temperature not lower than 12-14°C. Fertilizers are required, including nitrogen (up to 30 kg/ha d.a.), phosphorus (60-80 kg/ha d.a.), potassium, and magnesium (40-60 kg/ha d.a. each). For plant protection, plant protection agents, growth regulators, seed dressing with a fungicide, and inoculation with rizotorphin for improved nitrogen fixation are applied. Soybean Belgorodskaya 48 has good disease resistance, particularly it is moderately affected by septoria, which allows reducing yield losses and improving product quality.
