Maize Coconut

Field Performance of the Lidea 'Coconut' Hybrid

When selecting a sweet corn hybrid for commercial production, the main priority is always consistency. The 'Coconut' hybrid, developed by Lidea, brings that French precision to the field. From an operator's perspective, this hybrid is built for efficiency, focusing on yield uniformity and ease of harvest.

Crop Management and Observations

Managing 'Coconut' is relatively straightforward for those familiar with premium sweet corn hybrids. The plant exhibits strong vigor, and the kernel development is consistent across the entire ear.

• Stalk Strength: The plants are robust and show excellent resistance to lodging, which is crucial during late-season winds or heavy rain.
• Grain Quality: Being a sugar-type hybrid, the kernels reach the ideal milk-wax stage with high sugar content, providing excellent market appeal.
• Uniformity: One of the biggest advantages is how consistent the ears are in size and shape, which significantly reduces the time needed for grading and sorting.

In terms of maintenance, this hybrid does not demand extraordinary measures. Following a standard Lidea crop protection program for corn pests and ensuring proper moisture levels during the silking stage are sufficient to achieve peak results. Additionally, the shelf life after harvesting is reliable, making the logistics between the field and the retail market much smoother.
