Sunflower hybrid Titan, developed at the Institute of Horticulture and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia) and produced by AF "Sad Ukraine", is a high-yielding variety with a short vegetation period of 100-105 days. Due to its wide ecological adaptability, this hybrid successfully grows both in southern and northern regions of Ukraine, occupying approximately 5% of sunflower sown areas in the country. Registered in the National Variety Register of Ukraine since 2006, Titan has proven itself as a reliable and popular variety.
The hybrid is characterized by high yield, which can exceed 50 centners per hectare, although actual yield usually ranges from 25-30 centners per hectare. A key advantage is the high oil content in seeds — from 49 to 52%, as well as a hull content of 22-24%. A well-developed root system ensures good drought resistance, enabling the plant to efficiently utilize moisture from deeper soil layers. Rapid early growth and dense row closure help suppress weeds, reducing the need for additional agronomic measures.
Hybrid Titan exhibits resistance to a range of pathogens and pests, including five races of sunflower downy mildew, as well as to sunflower moth and sunflower rust. The plant's delicate flower head allows for savings on autumn desiccation, reducing cultivation costs. All these characteristics make sunflower Titan an attractive choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality yield under various climatic conditions.
