Sunflower NS H DFSP, also known as the Ajax hybrid, is a high-yielding classic hybrid of Serbian selection from the breeder NS Seme. This mid-early sunflower has a vegetation period of 109-114 days and is characterized by a high yield potential of up to 6 tons per hectare, with actual yields in trials ranging from 3.9 to 4.6 tons per hectare. The oil content of the seeds is 50-54%, making this hybrid attractive for oil production. Plant height reaches about 180 cm, which contributes to good growth and yield formation.
The Ajax hybrid is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including the forest-steppe and northern steppe, provided that sunflower downy mildew is not present. It exhibits high resistance to major diseases and lodging, confirmed by resistance ratings of 9 out of 10. Seeds are resistant to five races of downy mildew (A, B, C, D, E), ensuring reliable protection of the crop. Due to its cold tolerance and resistance to flower head shattering, the Ajax sunflower is well-adapted to various climatic conditions.
The hybrid's seed material is available in three technological solutions: Premium, Optimum, and Base. Premium seeds are treated with a complex of fungicides (fludioxonil, metalaxyl-M, thiophanate-methyl), plant growth stimulators based on phytohormones, and microfertilizers, which provide protection against soil-borne infections and promote strong, healthy seedlings. This treatment allows the hybrid to fully express its potential and increase yield. The recommended sowing rate is approximately 150,000 seeds per hectare, ensuring optimal plant spacing on the field.
