OREL

Sunflower hybrid Orel has a vegetation period lasting 102-105 days. The plant reaches a height of up to 170 cm, and the diameter of the convex head may reach up to 20 cm. The seeds of this hybrid have a high oil content — up to 50.9%, making it attractive for oil production. Under optimal growing conditions, yield may reach 42 centners per hectare, indicating high productivity of the variety.

Hybrid Orel is characterized by high resistance to various stress factors and diseases. It demonstrates good drought and lodging resistance, as well as tolerance to races of downy mildew from A to E. In addition, the plant is resistant to head and root rot, stem rust, fomosis, and fomopsis, and shows good protection against false powdery mildew. The recommended seeding density before harvest is 60-65 thousand plants per hectare in humid zones and 50-55 thousand in areas with insufficient moisture. The optimal regions for growing this hybrid are the Steppe and Forest-Steppe of Ukraine.

For effective weed control of Orel sunflower crops, systemic post-emergence herbicides targeting annual and perennial grassy weeds and cereal weeds are recommended. These herbicides, such as those containing cyclohexanedione-P-ethyl, quickly penetrate weeds, destroying their underground parts and preventing regrowth. They do not have phytotoxic effects on crop plants when applied according to the regimen and quickly degrade in the soil, causing no harm to subsequent crops.
