Barrier

Sunflower Barrier is a modern hybrid developed with genetic resistance to major pests and diseases, particularly to the western flower thrips and diseases such as frogeye leaf spot, sclerotinia, rust, and verticillium wilt. Thanks to this genetic barrier, the hybrid provides reliable plant protection, significantly reducing the need for chemical treatments and improving the economic efficiency of cultivation. Barrier belongs to early hybrids with a maturity group of approximately 105-108 days, allowing for a stable yield under various climatic conditions. The Barrier hybrid is highly adaptable and suitable for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine, including the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia. It demonstrates excellent resistance to stress factors such as drought and diseases, ensuring stable yield performance under different agrofons. The high oil content of seeds, reaching 49-52%, contributes to increased production profitability and final product quality. Plant height ranges from 170-190 cm, which is optimal for intensive cultivation technologies. To combat thrips and minimize their spread, a comprehensive approach is employed, including the genetic resistance of the Barrier hybrid, as well as agronomic and herbicide measures developed within programs such as SOLGUARD. This systematic protection allows effective control of the pest, preventing its spread through soil and agricultural machinery, as well as slowing the emergence of new pest strains. As a result, farmers obtain a stable and high-quality sunflower yield with minimal investment in plant protection.
