Description Merlinas
Merlinas lettuce is a head type Iceberg variety developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. It features a compact head with light green coloring and an average weight of about 500 grams. The maturation period ranges from 50 to 80 days, allowing cultivation from early spring to late autumn. The plant is suitable for both open ground and protected cultivation, making it a versatile choice for various climatic conditions.

One of the key features of the Merlinas variety is its high resistance to adverse weather conditions. The lettuce tolerates heat, minor frosts down to -5 degrees, and is also resistant to powdery mildew, internal necrosis, and lettuce aphids. Thanks to these qualities, the variety is suitable for cultivation in areas with unstable climates and can be successfully grown on an industrial scale.

Merlinas is valued for its excellent taste and low maintenance requirements. For successful cultivation, timely watering, weed control, and fertilization are recommended. Seeds germinate at a temperature of +16–+17 degrees, and the optimal planting density is 10–12 plants per square meter. Additionally, the lettuce withstands prolonged transportation without quality loss, making it attractive for commercial production and sales.
