Description Satie
Sugar beet of the Satie variety is a classic diploid hybrid of the yield-sugar direction with genetically enhanced sugar content, making it a novelty on the Ukrainian market. The plant is characterized by a cylinder-conical root shape with a relatively smooth surface, which facilitates harvesting and reduces soil adhesion. The average weight of the root is about 700 grams, and the vegetation period lasts up to 120 days, corresponding to average maturation time. The leaf rosette is semi-spreading, with medium-sized leaf blades and moderately corrugated surfaces. The Satie hybrid exhibits high resistance to various diseases, including cercospora, powdery mildew, aphanomyces root rot, rhizomania, fusarium, and vascular bacteriosis. The root system is taprooted, penetrating deeply into the soil to 2-2.5 meters, ensuring good nutrition and resistance to drought and cold. The plants have dark green foliage with a strong waxy coating and moderate growth vigor, which contributes to their adaptation to various climatic conditions, including the Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe regions. Satie is recommended for early sowing with a seeding rate of 1.4 p.e./ha. High root yield reaches 87.5 tons per hectare, with sugar content of 18.3%, making this hybrid attractive for technical use. Beet is used in sugar and molasses production, as well as in cooking for borscht and kvass. Additionally, it serves as a zero-waste feed crop, expanding its application potential in agriculture.
