ICB 0904 — a single-seed triploid hybrid sugar beet, developed through joint selection by the Ivanivska and Bilotserkivska Research-Selection Stations. This hybrid is characterized by intensive early growth, high harvest efficiency, and stable high yield under various weather conditions. The average root mass is approximately 900 grams, and root placement in the soil reaches 90%, facilitating effective harvest. The recommended plant density at harvest is approximately 90–115 thousand per hectare, with a sowing rate of 1.3 seeding units per hectare.
The hybrid exhibits high sugar content — approximately 17–18% — ensuring a sugar yield of 8.9 tons per hectare, exceeding the national standard by 13%. Root yield varies from 51.6 to 100 tons per hectare according to different data, indicating the variety’s high productivity. ICB 0904 is recommended for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine, including the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia regions, and is suitable for irrigated conditions.
Regarding resistance, the hybrid demonstrates high resistance to major sugar beet diseases. It is lightly affected by cercosporosis, resistant to powdery mildew, and unaffected by rust. Additionally, it shows high resistance to rhizomania and root rot caused by Aphanomyces. These characteristics make ICB 0904 a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality sugar beet harvest.
