Sugar head is a mid-season turnip variety that grows rapidly: it takes only 85–90 days from full emergence to the beginning of technical maturity. The root is round, weighs 300–400 g, and is covered with a bright anthocyanin skin, while the inside contains yellow, juicy, and tender flesh. Thanks to this structure, it maintains high yield – up to 4.5 kg/m².
One of the main advantages of the variety is its nutritional value. 100 g of the root contains more than 84 mg of ascorbic acid, which covers the daily requirement of an adult for vitamin C. In addition, the product is rich in fiber, pectin substances, and easily digestible carbohydrates, contains plant protein and a small amount of fats, represented by mustard oil. The mineral composition includes phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, potassium, iron, and especially a large amount of calcium.
Sugar head is distinguished by a high content of B-group vitamins, as well as vitamins E, A, and beta-carotene. During culinary processing, most beneficial substances are preserved almost completely, making it an ideal choice for healthy eating. The variety is well adapted to northern climatic conditions, stores excellently, and is suitable for both home growing and commercial production.
