Description KRESTYANKA
Krestyanka – a mid-season turnip variety, characterized by a moderate growing period: from full germination to the beginning of technical maturity it takes 115–120 days. Leaves of medium size have a dark green tint and slight glossiness; the leaf has few large lobes but a small portion of large size. The rootstock has a wide elliptical profile, is only slightly immersed in the soil, has a diameter of up to 15 cm and a small bulbous end. The rootstock skin is yellow, and the flesh is dense, juicy, and yellow, which ensures a pleasant taste and good storability.

The variety is characterized by high keepability during winter storage, which makes it convenient for long-term storage in cool conditions. The mass of one rootstock fluctuates from 400 to 650 g, and the yield reaches 3.5–4.0 kg/m², which allows obtaining a significant volume of product on small areas.

Krestyanka is valued not only for taste qualities, but also for nutritional value: carbohydrates, valuable mineral salts, and vitamins C and A are contained in the rootstocks. Thanks to good storability, it ensures stable nutrition in the spring and summer periods. For growing the variety, fertile soil enriched with organic matter is required; it is not suitable for acidic soils. Seeds are sown at the end of April, and seedlings are transplanted after 30 days of growth. Harvest is usually carried out at the end of September.
