Rhubarb «Candied» is a perennial variety with medium maturity that quickly reaches technical maturity within 39‑45 days after seedling emergence. The stem height ranges from 1.5 to 2 m, the diameter width is up to 4 cm, and medium-sized leaves have a bubbly surface with a wavy edge and are arranged vertically on the rosette. Petioles 25‑30 cm long and weighing about 200 g have a sour-sweet taste, containing precious organic acids: malic, citric, oxalic, succinic, and salicylic.
The variety is characterized by high yield – up to 3.5 kg/m² with proper care. It is recommended to grow in open ground (planting scheme 70–80 cm between plants), at a planting depth of 2 cm and a density of 1–2 plants per square meter. The optimal temperature for growth is 16‑20 °C, and the plant tolerates cold and frost well, but does not tolerate waterlogging, so regular watering, loosening, and weeding of the soil are required.
«Candied» is suitable for both fresh consumption and canning: it is used in compotes, jellies, soups, and other dishes. Thanks to disease resistance and frost hardiness, this variety is easy to grow in all regions of the country, ensuring a stable yield from the first year of planting.
