Mary Rose is an English garden rose, bred in the United Kingdom in 1983 by David Austin. The bushes of this rose are vigorous and branched, reaching a height of 1.2 to 1.5 meters and a diameter of about a meter. The leaves are of medium size, matte, and a rich green color, creating an impressive background for the bright pink flowers. The flowers have a cup-shaped form, characteristic of old varieties, with multi-layered, wavy petals that curve outwards on the outside and inwards towards the center. The flower diameter ranges from 7 to 10 centimeters; they are arranged in clusters of 3-7 flowers, giving the bush fullness and decorative appeal.
Blooming with Mary Rose is long-lasting and abundant, starting early and lasting until late autumn with minimal breaks between waves. The rose has a delicate, classic aroma with light fruity and spicy notes, making it especially attractive for creating romantic and elegant compositions in the garden. Due to high resistance to diseases and rain, as well as hardiness, this variety is excellent for growing in various climatic conditions, although protection is recommended during cold winters.
Mary Rose prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations with fertile, well-drained soil. Regular watering and timely pruning are necessary to maintain health and abundant flowering, stimulating the growth of new shoots. This rose is versatile in landscape design: it can be used for decorating the center of flower beds, borders, rose gardens, and mixed borders, where it will become a bright and fragrant accent.
