DescriptionV 5 88
The rootstock V-5-88 is a dwarf variety created based on the Vladimir Vp-1. It is characterized by high frost resistance and resistance to fungal diseases, including root and leaf forms of phylloxera, making it suitable for a wide range of climatic conditions.
The 5 88 variety obtained its genetic characteristics through hybridization of *V. cinerea* and *V. riparia* species, as well as thanks to the work of French breeder Couderk with variety 1616, obtained from *Solenopsis* and *Riparia*. This ensures low purism, but a high level of nematode resistance and resistance to various fungal pathogens.
The rootstock is well adapted to soil, has a compact root system, which allows its use for creating dense orchards. Trees on such a rootstock grow compactly and begin to bear fruit within a few years after planting, providing an earlier harvest compared to traditional options. Thanks to its resistance to excessive or insufficient moisture, V-5-88 is suitable for a wide range of soil conditions and ensures stable growth and development of cherries.
