The 'Salyut' raspberry variety is an ultra-early remontant variety developed by scientists at Bryansk Agrarian University in collaboration with the Federal Scientific Breeding and Technological Center for Horticulture and Nursery. It begins ripening as early as July 20-22 and fruits until mid-September, which is approximately one month earlier compared to other known varieties. Bushes are of medium size, semi-erect, and possess high shoot productivity, ensuring a stable and abundant yield.
The 'Salyut' variety berries are large, with a maximum weight of up to 8.2 g, conical in shape and light red in color. Fruits are characterized by durability, good separation from the pedicel, and a delicate raspberry aroma. The berry taste is dessert-like, with high sugar content (about 6.4-11-12%) and organic acids (0.86-1.8%), as well as a significant level of vitamin C (up to 62 mg%). These characteristics make the variety attractive both for fresh consumption and for transportation and processing.
The 'Salyut' variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and moderate heat tolerance, as well as good resistance to major raspberry diseases, such as purple blotch, gray mold, anthracnose, as well as raspberry and spider mites. The yield of the variety reaches 20 tons per hectare, which corresponds to approximately 2.8-3 kg of berries per bush. Due to its qualities and characteristics, the 'Salyut' variety is a promising choice for cultivation in the Central region and other suitable climatic conditions.
